current work in progress
Finally worked out a bit of backstory for him and a name, not 100% on this atm but i like it so far anyway
Name: Verkünder
Class: Warlord
Chieftain of the Grën'Fang (greentooth) clan, the most powerful tribe of the Zotn'Ün Fau (the children of fire) or the Zotn'Ün for short, the barbaric reavers of the scorched planet of Polycount
He is the Herald of the GrënFang and wielder of Zerstörung - The Flames of the forgotten. It is an Artifact of unimaginable power that is handed down from chieftain to chieftain. It is rumored to be from before the times of the Wars of Dominance
Trained from his Birth 250 years ago to fill his role as Elite Warrior of the GrënFang,
Verkünder was schooled in the arts of Tactics, battle strategy and Weapons mastery, Particularly mastery with the broad bladed long axe. After proving his prowess in many battles as well as many solo missions, Verkünder was nominated by the Chieftain himself to serve as his replacement
Verkünder was pitted against 5 other Nominees in brutal unarmored hand to hand combat in the pits of Crimson. The young warlord portrayed levels of battle prowess never before seen in the pits of blood, Emerging from the contest as the only one left standing, Verkünder was assigned to the chieftains personal guard, and given rigorous training in the duties of the chieftain
With his sharp mind and strong knowlege of strategy, Verkünder realised that the only way forward for the Zotn'Ün Fau was for the clans to form a permanent allegiance, a grand council lead by the Grën'Fang. As soon as he was named chieftain he put his plans in motion. Through Sly Negotiations and forceful submissions, each of the clans eventually accepted the idea of the Council. Under the steadfast rule of Verkünder and the Grën'Fang clan the Zotn'Ün War Horde was born
While not particularly skilled in offensive magic, the Zotn'Ün Fau are master blacksmiths, And the Grën'Fang smiths are highly skilled masters of defensive runes, The amour they produce is the envy of the known worlds.

ahaha it was supposed to be just a shadow thingy and i guess subconsciously i drew a Blueberry....GG
10 and 14 are whats really sticking out for me, ill have a crack at drawing some bigger more detailed versions of those two i think
Crits please
Tribal crab-asaurus is cool. However, the dude on the right is pretty interesting. I'm not sure if he as one eyeball or a small head, either way, could be fun to play with. For some reason I'm thinking centipede/millipede lower body with that guy.

when i drew it i saw it as a really small head. but now that u mention the big eye thing i can see thta as well, could lead to some interesting design direction, thx for the crits
time to put the ol Game face on and spam out some really solid sketches at lunch
im still not sold on centipede legs or the tentacle goodness...or even if i should go with Master scuttler with his Pincer-Fu style
ive nailed down his artifact, and pretty much locked in the body shape for now (some armor details might change but im pretty happy atm)
now to go home and sort out his back story
I'd really like the see the armour on the centipede legs pushed a but further, getting into some detail, almost crustacean like a lobster or something. Really push that carapace feel.

cant wait to see this all modeled up mate.
@Blackheart: thanks martin, i must say im pretty pumped to get into the modeling stage
@caseyjones: cheers for the crits Emil, im feeling the same way re: the carapace armor, a few more sketches i think and ill almost be there, and yeah im really happy with the way the axe is looking, its definatly the feel i was going for
and ur pic reminded me of this email i got sent ages ago about bug fights.....totally awesome stuff...
some japanese dude had the idea to chuck brutal looking insects in a glass box, piss them off and make em fight

lol didnt even think about that for some ref, but i got it now
also did a little collage of centipedes...and yes the bottom left one IS eating a lizard
also
been doing some color tests
thats the first pass i did that i sactually liked
then played around breifly with some colors and came up with this
suggestions?
Here:
The Polycount caterpillar
i sorta want to get a leathery worn and ancient skin sorta thing happening on his actual body, i havnt put any cracks or skin detail into him yet asides from the dots, which im rather fond of atm, with a bit more detail i can work them into leathery bumps and bits of hardened skin,
i do really like like the burnt orange style i got in that 1st color pass, makes him look pretty demonic and fits in nicely with his artifact element..Fire and i do want a decent amount of contrast from his armor to his skin, as it is a plate type armor not an organic armor like real centipedes, thats where he differs,
stayed back at work to use photoshop as my home PC is still dead
pretty happy with the dark black/red armor hes got crankin now
theres a bit more detail on his skin now too which is great, not far off having a completed concept i think
