DWIII - 2D - Tully - Nehushtan: Undead Summoner

Got a preliminary idea here. This isn't gonna be exactly where I go I don't think, but it's a sketchy jumping off point. Something dark with glowy bits looking dynamic and badass. This guy has a glowy necklace from which he draws his power-- though to be sure that isn't exactly obvious here. I think he's been corrupted by it over a long period of time (a la Gollum and his precious). I have a couple other ideas rolling around in the ol' cranium, so hopefully those will add to it too
Not doing 3D this year, I think -- I know I stand a much better chance of doing well in the 2D category (which I really want to do) and if I tried both I'd stretch myself way too thin.

I've decided he is an ancient Lich, survived the apocalpyse by means of his magical doo-dad.
Just been doing a bit more development on the character -- before I was thinking it wasn't quite interesting enough to be able to be a serious contender, though it had some elements I liked. The images I've done since have just been trying to nail down more interesting, non-conventional proportions for him. It's getting closer, though not 100% there yet. I want to keep the light-emitting orifaces. He's got a blade that I'm thinking for the moment is some sort of sword or slim axe (or...sword axe--maybe :O)

Of the various art pieces in your second post, I like the third guy the best - the tall, lanky nonhuman with the spear thingy impaled through his torso.

Though I love them all, the flamey mouth man is still my favourite, though may work well with the spear from 3.
Katzeimsack: Ehhh, kiiiinda. In his general porportions you're right that appears to not be a million miles off, but with what I've got in mind I doubt anybody will draw too strong a reference from it in the end. If I even end up going in this direction for sure -- still not totally certain.
He's still gonna be able to spew magical firey stuff from his mouth, since I quite liked that. He's just not doing it in those particular drawings.
