I'm liking #6 myself, particularly the idea of him summoning those little tripod creatures. It might look even cooler if he had a couple of little #4 creatures under his control instead.
Thx for the input, Like that little fella too but don't quite knew what to do with him further.
After sleeping got a nice idea what to do with the character with the horn, so I will stick to it to the bitter end.
The Horn is ripped of from a giant fire deamon thousands of years ago. Laying around useless the inner magic never really vanished. With the upcoming era of magic some magicians managed to activate the sleeping power. Tataa the perfect flamethrower... . Its wielded by a warlord to burn the opposing forces to nothing but ashes
don't really understand everything on the last sketch.. but it seems to have a lot of potential! maybe try to sort out a bit more detail... but it could be a nice direction imo
i like 6 mostly, but after seeing the more detailed horn guy, i think i might change my mind. it's a really cool weapon concept, and that little back story works real well. (taking something from an slain epic creature as an intimidating battle wear/weapon)
Thx for all the encouraging replys. @kakikukeko Will make some thumbs which go in that direction.
Some more progress.
Was thinking about a possible race, a friend of mine mentioned the last sketch would remind him of a Pan. Liked that Idea so tried to develop something in that direction.
Also thought a creature which is living in a environment with high humidity would be a nice contrast to the artifact.
Some approaches on the characters head.
And some Variations where the horn is wielded more like a weapon.
Liking 3 and 4 thus far, not sure if 4 is breaking the rules though (armored suit filled with water regulating the body temperature).
Want to do some more going in the direction in the previous post before deciding on anything final.
the horn really takes a lot of movement out of the character and turns him into more a static object. if you are really married to it (the horn), then i think making the character bulkier would help.
@Hell Yea !: You are right nr.3 makes the horn look like an lightweight.
Ok making it bulkier actually did help, looks much more dominating . Thx for pointing that out Leto.
Made 2 more detailed concepts based on the first sketch
If i can't get anything better in the next 3 days i will work on the second variant. Really need the time for the modelling and texturing process. Especially texturing :P
Will probably add some sort of trophy:
- Necklace with Burnt robot heads.
- a Bag for the heads?
Wow!
Great work dude, looking good. I like the second concept best, I think he needs to be more mobile though, maybe some lobster/crab ref would help. bit of a tail and some hind legs, maybe two pairs.
I can't wait to see some more good work
ThX Davision 3d. In Terms of movement i thought of a turtle or walruss. Its more like a crouching
@ Madnorman: Thx dude. May try some additional legs if there is time left (which i doubt).
I think just the front legs work too, made a test animation and it did not look to bad .
Unwrapping of the low poly is as good as done need to add some planes for the fire though.
Hipoly needs more detail here and there, especially on his back.
Ran into a problem with the horn, tried to bake the normalmap in zbrush but the Zmapper plugin only allows 500,000 tris for the hires mesh so had to use a lower subdivision. If anyone knows a workaround to get all the detail of the higher subdivisions I would be glad to hear it. (too much polys too import it into a other 3d app)
Hope to start with the texture tomorrow, only 10 days left.
I'll try my best to get it finished but i think I'll die on the battlefield. =P
In that case I'll rise of the ashes after the war and complete it anyway.

Some early Sketches. Not very much so far.
think I have to try out the thumbnail/little silhouette technique too.
Anyways here is some thumbnails hardly drawn together, gotta admit its quite fun drawing those, even with mouse
Think i go with either nr. 3 (dude with magical wind horns) or 6. (nature invoker with a "grown" armor and those 3 legged creatures).

Want to have some fresh eyes to have a look at it and maybe point out whats looking odd before going on and add more detail so any c&c is appreciated.
Danke rollin, i think i took care of that. Tried to shorten it but it looked odd so now he can rest it on the ground.
been a bit lazy but expect more updates now .
Looks like hes putting his belly/haunches too much to the front. I wonder how he will move, must be hard like someone that walks with skis.
