Was hard working today...as dominance war has been on my mind. Did a little sketch at work today and touched it a bit up at home. I'm liking the head on the left.. I'm gonna take that and massage it a little and see where I'm at. I have more drawings but they are crap!! If only I could thumbnail like peppi.
I was actually gonna say that michael jackson with power gauntlets was my favorite He is easily the most memorable shape in your concepts, and has a decent balance between lower and upper body. That and the pose is stellar.
Did some more work today... I'm getting to know the character a bit more. One day John Doe took a swim, the next thing he knew, a bunch of deep sea creatures stuck to him and he became a champion from the sea. He is going to be an blind (perhaps albino) assasin who brings darkness/void with his translucent weapons. I like the idea of the creatures all working together to help him whoop ass.
update... it's a coral bodysuit. Will be adding a crab/lobster like hitchhiker on his back and something else for protection on shins etc. Shoot feedback if ya got it.
the sheeld is an cool idear.. and would look realy cool in 3d.. but i´m no fan of this... weapon? on his other hand.. maybe give im one single long tentacle or something more dynamic
there's lots of other underwater things that could be a cool weapon... what about a puffer fish on a chain, like a morning star?
the sheild is awesome... i bet his hand is sore though:)
I really like the idea of this weapon grabbing his hand.. "cooperation". I dunno. Perhaps the shell is kinda fruity. I'll rethink and see what comes up. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Well.. haven't had much time the last couple days. Have been thinking about the design and have been doodling at work. (will post later) To me, this is too pretty for a male character so Marinus has gone to a doctor and has received a sex change. Going for an anime style and there's still some male attributes to adjust. I've never modelled an anime character before so it should be fun. Let me know if you guys hate the new direction.
Too busy to finish off the paintover..plus I need to get cracking on the modeling. I'm pretty happy where this is going. Pretty much a coral body suit with translucency showing her circulatory system. Gonna stick with the jelly shield. Not sure for the other arm. Perhaps a stingray which sits on her like a "falconer" of sorts? I was thinking about a octopus that she throws at her opponents. I'll ponder some more as I model.
I think using a glow map on the blue veinage will be very nice indeed. (Yes I know I made up the word).
One thing...I like the falconry octopus idea but would the octopus be aerodynamic enough to be sicced on someone? Maybe it would be I don't know how fast those suckers are. Pun intended. Obviously your call.
Just as a possible brainstormed idea though... how about a moray eel thats thrown at you like a spear and starfish shurikens?
octopus that she throws at her opponents..... wahahaha
what about a big octopus sit on her shoulder(back) and it throws the mini octopus out of its mouth :P so the mini octopus will stuck on enemies face!!!
Thanks for the love JesterBox... it's heart warming to think that i'm not the only one thinking about my stuff
Still undecided what the weapon is besides the shield.
Well I gave it my best shot.. but the new baby has taken up most of my free time. I don't know how these other guys do it.... but unhappy wife means unhappy life
Changed the pose to be more dynamic.. I've worked more on the high res figure and made the jelly shield. Staff weapon is unknown. Will continue on well past deadline...
Well some say better late than never, it's back from the dead! I finally found sometime to work on this. Thought my demo reel lacked an original character of my own design so got this lady done in about two weeks. Attempting to perfect Zbrush/Photoshop workflow.

I like how it almost looks like a cage where you made the inside dark. Like it's more a spirit then a head it contains.
Sounds like a pretty original concept, i hav'nt seen a Sea like character entry yet.Roll with it man.
This is Blair. Maybe you could try some coral armour pieces. Or other stuff from the deep.
the sheild is awesome... i bet his hand is sore though:)

Weapon-wise you could probably do much worse than this. Pistol Shrimp!

Any comments on the pose would be appreciated.. i think it looks a little stiff on some areas.
Scrawled this on a sticky note, then doodled it later.
That was the coolest shrimp I've ever seen... and I know shrimp.
I dunno it seemed like it might be fun to share.
Love the jelly shield. Keep up the awesomeness.
