DWIII - 3D - WickedFingers - Aceriques O'dinn

This is an updated concept so you know where I'm at...

Concept7.jpg
This is my First Dom War.

I'm entering the 2D & 3D competitions. Silhouette concepts will be posted tomorrow morning.

Never really posted my art just comments and opinions. I figured I should start posting sooner rather than later. Glad to be standing along side the Green and Black.

This is kinda what I'm wanting to go with.

    Race: Dark Elf (Undead)
    Class: Invoker
    Gender: Female
    Artifact Weapon: Staff
    Magical Energy: Darkness/void

Still needing to make major changes but it's a start. She's for the Invoker race so I'd like to interpret some intricate detail/symbols in her armor and clothing to interperet magical spells and chants . Let me know what you think...

Working on gauntlets / lower leg armor, boots and accessories right now.

    Update added

Update post... mainly worked on boots but I got to some other things as well. I intend to change the staff cause it's way to plain (same goes for her arms/hands etc.)

I finished the lower leg armor but won't be able to post images until tomorrow morning since I'm at work.

Anyone who would like to help me out, let me know what you think. Looking forward to your critiques.

i would remove the left and right "toe"
atm the feets are too heavy compared to the rest
  • WickedFingers
Yea, I started to change her armor from the knee and up last night. It will all be proportional. Ha, didn't know if I was gonna get a critique ever but you have proved me wrong. Thanks!

i dunno, i kinda like the "left and right toe" on the boots. its different, maybe if you gave her like bulkier "t-rex" legs, it could fit. but if i would change anything, maybe the helmet? since it seems like witch/evil sorceress type characters normally always have a horned type helmet or headdress. but hey, thanks for the ref pics, those will come in handy for sure.

I didn't really illustrate it clear enough cause I wanted to sketch it quickly to start changing things afterwards. I am going to design a helm to form around the spikes that are extruding from her head. I'll strive towards designing a helm that appears different. Thanks Hildor

I dig the armor and actually like the 3 pronged boots. I think adding something equally ornamental to the top (either in her bustier or helmet/shoulders) would balance out those boots. Otherwise, if you want simple armor overall, I would have to side with Rollin and cut off the toes smile.gif Her neck is disproportionately thick/muscular compared to the rest of her physique. If you are going for a slender/physically weak character, I would slim down that neck too and broaden the shoulders just a hair (http://images.usatoday.com/news/_photos/2006/09/26/model.jpg here's skinny model reference)
    Can't wait to see more!

I haven't updated since the 21st and am making huge changes throughout the whole design. I'll switch up the neck as soon as possible and post an update, thanks for the words... Back to the drawing board I go.

The boots are looking nice, the only problem I see with them is that they have no room for pivoting. Where the skulls are right now, should have some sort of hinge. When it goes to deform it is going to stretch or smoosh those skulls. Also the hands are looking really small compared to her head. The hands should be atleast relatively the same size as her head.

    Good Job so far!

Made major major changes since my last post... I think this is what I'm gonna go with. Thinking about changing the staff up some more but I gotta start modeling this quick... Let me know what you think.

Very cool Wicked, alot stronger direction than your previous sketch. Only comment I have is that you have alot of busy areas, and leads the eye all over the place, while maybe you might consider having less noise in the lower portions of the body, leaving those high details for the upper portion to help balance. Believe me, I have this problem myself, ( which I am still fighting with on my own concept ) so never the less I think you need to go with this over the other.
