Working on the Idea of the character being from the past, pre-ultimate weapon deployment.
He is killed by a machine 1000 yrs ago during the last war. He has a shard of machine that killed him impaled through his chest, this shard of machine(non-functional elctronically) is his magical artifact. He is awoken to new life with the second awakening of the machines. This magical ancient machine artifact grants him the ability to summon the visage or a specter/ghost like layer of armor that grants him the ability tp consume the souls of machines and other foes. I suppose he would be considered Undead/necromancer type. He is an Invoker with the ability of summoning: granted by the ancient machine artifact/shard that he is impaled on. *There are NO functional electronics or machinery on this character.Ancient magic is his source of power.
most peoples' story set up i could care less about, but you've actually got a pretty solid hook for a concept. i love the idea of a character with an ancient non-functioning robot arm or some other once-amazing piece of technology stuck through him... very strong possibilities, visually.
i think you've got quite a few good thumbnails in that batch, but not any single one that really sells me on the impaled-guy character. maybe play with a few thumbnails drawn in profile? unlike most characters which you need to sell primarily from the front, i think this character might reveal himself through studying profile shots (and how you can incorporate the impaled bit).
Went in to a more finished exploration of the idea to sell the visual intricacy of it, which is hard to achieve through thumbnails, gonna do more of these.
Comment Welcome as always.

Wow some sweet thumbnailing here. Lots of different ideas but a consistent feel to them all. My favorite is over 3 and up 1 from the bottom (the guy with the two maces. Im not sure whats hanging under the arms holding the maces but it looks like his real arms? If so its a cool idea and i like the overall shape of him. The other ones that i find unique are the floating guy, the one to his left, and the guy with the protruding chest piece thing. Nice work overall tho. Looking forward to your final choice
Some more, i agree with Nuclear, i really like the silhouette
third in from top row. These are some more finished explorations of it, carrying in aspects form the last one.
More to follow soon.
I may play arround with the idea of having a metal gollum...not sure yet.
The right one feels more personal with the hood and eyes etc. For some reason he looks like he need a sword more like that big monster with a triangular mask in the silent hill movie. Big and damn solid.
Great silhouette. I could go either way on the head. The overall shape of the guy is so good it almost doesn't matter what you put in the middle of it.
Wow thanks for the response and the welcome! Belltann, i agree, im gonna explore more costume and sword ideas forsure.
Thanks again for all the feedback!
man this is frikkin sweeeet. I just cant decide yet if im diggin the normal feet or the crazy space boots. I love the detail on the space boots but i almost think he looks more balaced with a normal foot shape. Other than that i love the forms on this dude. he looks so creepy from that front view.
No there are no functional machine parts, the robotic arm is going through his torso (he is undead), it is 1000s of yrs old form the last rain of the machines, its all rusted and shit, this ancient relic through his torso is his magical artifact.
Same with his armor, his lower arm fits into the sword like a glove, i thought this sword could be his reseptical for ripping out the souls of his victims. The rest is just made of scrap metal and leather...etc. Hoever its going to have a green underglow to communicate its magical properties (alows him to feed off souls). The relic is what allows him to summon his armour, without his armor he basically is a corpse.
I love it This is really something I can imagine rip the tin cans we have to deal with
my only crit is that the stuff in his chest make me feels he got impaled with something... (and right now , I don't have any feeling of magic from him... but that should be easily fixed ^^ )..
can't wait to see your next iteration man!
its wicked!! but i think the boots for second one still looks floating... like what clint said its more balanced on the first one. maybe its the pointy thing :S but yes i love it man!!!
Here is a quick colour pass.
Showing some more detail yet, a few changes.
Planning on doing some more detailed studies of the face.
Comments welcome.

New feets and sword looks great.
I i dont like the way the hand are impaling him though. I say rip it open more, not the soft edges around it. Think it will suit it better.
this is looking really great! excellent painting style on the concept. Im just wondering what does that thing coming out of his chest really do? its a bit wierd really but I guess thats what makes it more unique.
bloody great concept. i especially like the colors. that green edge on the sword might look a bit strange ingame though. and the skin could possible go well with some more wetness / specularity.

My eye went to that, and after looking at all of them, I still like it the most.

That means im getting my concept across.
Thnx for the comments!
My favorite is the middle one but I also like the stance of the far right design as it makes it look more like a walking undead to me.
