Mmm. I really dropped the ball on this one. I'm pretty embarrassed that I didn't at least finish
something to enter. But I learned a lot. Had I known 2 months ago what I know now, I'd have finished in time. As it is, I failed. But I'll finish it up anyway. And I can give the rat some technology now, since it's just a personal project at this point. So that'll be fun.

that and the top/bottom left I am digging most.

That giant flea is just begging for a saddle and rider.

I couldn't agree more!
Here's some steedage:
Still not sure on the rider, and the saddle would need some work (to make it look more battle-ready and less leisurely), but I think I might stick with the giant bug mount in general.
I looked to my old He-Man figures for inspiration. The shape of this one is pretty close to (but not the same as) the one he-man's tiger wears.
I started on a 3d model of the skull guy too, but I probably won't use it for DW.
Here are a couple other things:
A human warlord with a sceptor as his artifact (summoning) and a shotgun for good measure. I was thinking of maybe trying to do something like this with him...
I'm still trying to figure out what to do with his headgear, and the chest and abdominal areas are still kinda fuzzy. But I think this is the direction I'm going to stick with.
(I also updated the first post with this image, which I'll keep doing.)
Kind of stuck.
Still not sure on the armor and weapons.
and a mixture between armor top left and bottom-right would be cool..
I like the sceptor the guy is holding in the middle. Kinda looks like the staff I re-designed. Keep the sceptor...
I started on the modeling of the steed. I'm going to do the legs and saddle as separate meshes for the high poly. Here's the body in ZB. It'll need another subdivision or two, and a few more detail passes; but I want to get the saddle and legs in place first.
Honestly, you should replace the central guy with an oversized undead grub of some kind to complete the trifecta. Think that would make for a pretty cool entry.
Here's some new progress from today. It's the hi-res mesh for the rat. To clarify (because it's unclear while reading the thread), the rat is replacing the human and the other rider. So it's the rat and the bug. The rat gets the sceptor.
He has no ears at the moment. I'm working on his helmet, and the ears are going to stick out through it, so I'm modeling the helmet and the ears together.
Edit: The retopo is now finished, but the re-sculpting is no longer finished. As spectacular and awesome as ZBrush is, sometimes I really wish it would provide some kind of warning when it's about to un-undoably discard all of your most recent unsaved changes at the push of a button. (Reopening a zphere tool that's actually a retopo mesh that appears to be a real mesh but is actually an adaptive skin preview will let you sculpt for hours on the adaptive skin. I wasn't sure if it would let me go back and change the retopo lines after that point or not, so I figured I'd hit A and see. For the record, the answer is yes. But then anything you did with the preview is lost. Good to know.)

Unrelatedly, here's a picture of the bug's saddle. I made some changes since the last time I posted an update of it.
