FileBox Extender Now Freeware

I've been using this program for years. It adds a Recent and Favorites icon to the title bar of File Open/Save dialogs and Explorer windows. It saves a lot of frustration from having to navigate though the same project folders over and over again.

They recently changed the price from $19 to $0! And it is now Windows Vista compatible.

BTW, the options I set are:
1. Turn off the push pin and rollup bar.
2. Turn on the recent folders for explorer windows.
3. Change the resize File Open/Save boxes to 150%.

For those who don't yet read it: www.lifehacker.com featured this a while back, and they're always posting about similar workflow enhancing tools. It's not geared towards graphic professionals specifically, but what they cover should appeal to us equally.

Filebox extender slows down 3ds max 2008 to a 2 fps slideshow for me. Shame, as I've been using it for the past few hours and don't want to do without it...Anyone else getting this problem?

just found "virtua win" through the lifehacker-link provided above! awesome - a free virtual desktop manager just like the ones i used to use on unix.

filebox had a few problems at work - it was vanishing from time ot time and required a restart. it also slowed down the home machine once. seemed fine for the last weeks tho.

substantial workflow improvements, both of them.

I have tried Filebox extender before, but it was when it was shareware.. the limited freeware version was nice, but I ultimately uninstalled it. I'll certainly give it another shot now.

I'll put in another vote for DirectFolders, it works great, and doesn't slow down max. It's already saved me TONS of clicking.

Did I mention how fucking rad this is? It saves my bacon when I have to navigate to our brutally (and I mean fucking BRUTAL) deep directories in our shitty pipeline game.
