could chuck in a new rule of no more than 3 minutes work allowed, cos i'm at work at the minute and thats what i've done, but that's entirely up to you
doug's solo album that he made before he'd even left the band. The others hated him for that.
Oddly enough, while this was the first page Wikipedia gave me, after reading the article it turns out this guy is actually a musician... although I don't think he ever released this album!
Also the picture seems to match oddly well.
And here's a band who I'd probably listen to if they existed, they sound great!
Lituites just keep producing better and better music, not like many bands I could name.
Last two took under 3 minutes, the first one took about 5 because I read the rules wrongly at first and was trying to use an entire quote as the album title and wondering how I could make it fit...
Haha, Mace Of Cuthbert sound like an amazing band, I'd buy that album in a flash if I saw it on a shop shelf!
I couldn't resist one more... Bagber were always overshadowed by Oasis at the height of their popularity, but they still gig a lot around the Dorset pub scene:
I did this one a while back. The rules weren't quite as strict in our version - you could select any image on the interesting photo page (no refreshing though) and we weren't restricted to 4 words. And Lo:
Exceptia used to do some interesting psychedelia, but after the massive success of recent novelty single 'Messing in People's Backyards', they've moved into rather generic commercial dance music. Get 'Favour to the Needy'. Its much better.
I am gonna have to agree with Rhino here, if you are gonna join, at least try to abide by the rules:
[ QUOTE ]
1 - Go to Wikipedia's random article page
The first article you get is the name of your band
2 - Go to the Random Quotations page
The last four words of the last quote is the album title
3 - Go to Flickr's Interesting photo page
Third picture, no matter what it is, is your album cover
Put it all together to make your album. Either crop it to CD cover size, or just use the raw image itself... the only rule is you're only allowed to add the album title and artist title. (By the way, I didn't come up with this great idea, I found it on the rllmuk forum.)
I really didn't see the point in this until Rhinokey told me to read the rules; pretty fun stuff.
Personal Request: I'd like to see those of you who didn't read the rules go back and delete your posts so we can just see the results of those who followed the rules.
The other thing is, album covers are almost always square, so I think it looks more authentic when you crop them that way. I know the rules don't state that but you guys are almost all digital aritst and know how to use the crop tool in Photoshop to make an image 1:1. Seems silly not to.
Anyhow, just my random .02 so take it with a grain of salt. I don't mean to derail or take away from the fun and light-heartedness so you can all tell me to "fuck off and go away" if you want

people are breaking the rules all over the place. i don't think neo even looked at them!

Right you are! I saw people making faux cover art, figured I'd join in! I suppose if I make more I'll follow the rules (Should have actually posted them in the thread rather than make a link to them)
I can't believe I just got this combination, first try loading up those 3 pages after getting home:
The picture doesn't really make sense, but I was pretty stumped as to how a Rab C. Nesbitt album would sound anyway... spoken word maybe?
These guys are ok, mainly for background music while you're working, though - if you stop and listen to the lyrics, they don't actually make any sense:
Viola (Opera) are new on the scene taking the place of the recently broken Godspeed, You Black Emperor! with their edgy melodic tones and haunting sound samples. Expect their first single "Five Minutes in a Crypt with a Wolf" later this month
(ed. damnit. I see now I forgot to close my parenthesis. oh well. I am not messing with it. It's edgy )
140 C Ouest are new indie darlings taking a large influence from The Flaming Lips with their whimsical live shows and enchanting melodies. They are reportedly breaking up tomorrow.
the 1974 classic from the soon to be Reverend B Welchel, featuring his beaten wife on the guiro
okay, it's a single not an album, and one of two - this one features a really, really shit Kevin Shields remix cos he owed the singer's dad a favour for vanning over some armchairs
stith thompson were vile. One particularly arch gig at the 40 Watt club in Athens caused a fight which put the bassist in hospital. Everyone agreed it needed to be done
he was THAT close to having one of the sample MP3s included with windows Vista, but he got voted off at the last minute.
similar sound to Low, but they thought vocals were beneath them
Jim never really got the hang of marketing. He plays a mean lap steel, though.
Known as LOSBCAC to their few fans, they suffered from having far too many band members, and live shows usually degraded into just a lot of noise since several of them were so drugged up they couldn't remember what song they were meant to be playing.
Killing time waiting for this blasted competition to open.
Guadalupe, once a favourite of commercial pop stations everywhere, have recently fallen out of favour and found themselves blacklisted on a number of stations after lead singer Heather Armstrong attacked and injured a number of journalists with a whiskey bottle at a recent press conference.
"I feel in love with a dead boy" is a real name of a EP
He exist and makes music:
"He gained fame with a mash-up called "A Stroke of Genius", which combined an instrumental edit of The Strokes' track "Hard To Explain" with Christina Aguilera's pop hit "Genie in a Bottle"."

Or, if you're single and alone, open a bottle of gin and listen to the drudging dark dirges performed by Moncrief on "Gloom of Somebody Else"

Is this heavy metal or romantic soul?
