Will Wright is pretty good about living up to the hype he creates. Besides we've probably all seen that demo from GDC 06, and it looked pretty damn solid then, so I can only imagine it will be air tight upon release.
actually, "CE" is just as bad as "AD".. why are dates centred around christ either way? i say that the battle of yavin should be the determiner of "bce" and "ce"... lol i kid... but yea.. either is 'incorrect' and unfair.
was unawares till now why Spore was so hyped... but it actaully looks pretty good
dunno if illl be getting it though
Ahhh, holy crap, been wanting this game so bad ever since GDC 2005, this is the one game I am a total fanboy over. I'm pretty sure I've driven all my friends, family, and coworkers crazy with all my SPORE talk since '05.
"Sadly, the hype built up around Spore may be it's undoing, as nothing short of this game unboxing and installing itself, then proceeding to fulfill your most disgusting, deviant fantasies could possibly live up to the expectations that have been built up around it."

"EA is releasing a separate SKU for a creature-editor edition of Spore even earlier than its September 7 game launch. The company confirmed with us that the stand-alone product will let players begin creating crazy creatures, although it won't include other components of Spore's Creature Phase. Those creatures will then be able to be used in the full version of Spore.
EA didn't give any more specific details about when the creature-editor-only Spore will be released and its cost."
I hope it's similar to The Sims face editor, which was also standalone and released for free. If enough people enjoy making their creatures and get hyped up about seeing them in game, it'd be easier to sway them towards buying Spore. Could be a great viral (the irony!) tool.

C.E. Stands for Common Era, so it's no centered around "Christ", unless you're reading it "Christian Era"
looks like a fun game but I cant bring myself to get excited about it when its this far away from release. from what Ive read the game seems quite modular, you have to work on each part of the gameplay in isolation. I just hope this modular, ordered, gameplay feels natural and still gives alot of freedom to the player not like some other recent games. Two good games that come to mind is "The Movies" and "Fable" by lionhead which all just felt a little too controlled by the game to me and it felt like your actions eventaully had very little consequence in the game world. If I play this game and genuinely feel that the choices Ive made for my creatures has resulted in a unique creature and a unique experience different from many other spore players then I will be very impressed.
i thought A.D. was fitting for a game centered around evolution.
although, the hype is enormous, as well as the game...it still appears simple in design. Will Wright makes toys for all ages. I'm surprisingly addicted to SimCity on the virtual console atm. I know I'll be playing this.
I was excited about it, but the more cutesy art style it adopted and apparently being able to get to the space stage of the game in about 8 hours has been putting me off. I'd rather it felt more epic, not being able to rush through so quickly.
Though obviously not out yet and not played it, so it may not end up like that.

Finally I'll have a good excuse to ignore Ely for long periods of time.
And just in time for my birthday.
