Doing a game model that features jesus and other biblical figures such as zues, moses, and xenu (Badguy) ready to kick some demon ass.
Was wondering if i should have just made the cloth part of the texture and just model the bottom part of his outfit that overhangs his legs... should be an easy fix if that's the best way to do it, other than that, this is my first full body sculpt. obviously the character is over exaggerated, other than that if u see any major problems with the anatomy sculpt let me know so i can fix it.
being of no relevance, the flying spaghetti monster will also be in the game as an unlockable.

Whip it good!
Also I think you have very variable polygon density - face and feets seems to have a lot of polygons, but body is quite simple.
If you make clothes like this it could be litlle difficult to weight it right, but it will look better.
If you make clothes in texture and then do polygonal overlaping parts you couldn'd be able to get rid of seams.
Other than that I think your stylization looks awesome. Keep up in good work.
I played one cool flash game: Faith Fighter. Are you inspired by this game?
Cool model, but you´ll have some serious clipping in the shoulders if you keep the loops like they are right now.
no crown of thorns? maybe adding chunks of the crucifix still nailed to his hands when he broke free?

Oh man I was about to say wheres the nails and chunks of wood. LOL
Oh man you could also toss a white sheet over him with eye holes cut out to be the ghost of jesus. Kind of like a secondary costume.
Also you could give him the tip of the spear in his side. That might be some good details.
He can pull it out and stab the evil doers.
His super power could be climbing up a building and hiding from his enemies by creating his own crucifix and hanging off it.
Keep it up.

i'm not sure what bible you have but i don't think zeus or xenu are biblical. .
the models itsself is funny but has a number of anatomy issues. arms and hands most noticable to me now.
I think i Will add whipping marks on his back though... that might give him the badass edge that i need.
As for the shoulders... i've not done many character models, and the main reason i posted this was to get crit on topology and the cloth... so while i hunt for shoulder reference, does anyone have any good reference to throw out there for me?
thanks for the ideas guys, it's always good to hear people being light hearted about religious satire.
updates coming soon
^.^
edit- Hawken no it's not a racing game
The game is theoretically going to play like a platformer... a bunch of cute tiny chubby demons similar to the ones in the scion commercials got loose on earth, and now jesus and friends are going to come back all buff and ripped up with crazy guns and blow em all back to hell!
p.s. jesus gets the GOD summon.
All your joints will need more loops if you want anything but headaches animating him with any degree of broad movement. Shoulders are always more difficult & complex due to both the anatomy the degrees of freedom the joint has.
In regards the characterization, the massive torso is pretty good, but the legs look too thin, actually fairly normal. Some greater exaggeration in the muscles masses there would be more in keeping, I think. There could be greater distinction between the main masses of the upper arm -- deltoids, biceps and triceps, and the armpits area where the arm inserts into the torso looks to have a few "extra" masses.
Good start, though.
BTW, Big J should have a mega-squirtgun loaded with holy water -- bad news for demonic types, y'know.
thanks for the suggestions
I added hand and feet scars, whip marks, and a subtle scar on his ribs where he got stabbed...
Added some edge lops in shoulders and forarms for double joint rotation, and made his thighs and calves a little more beefy.
thanks for the critique though.
this in tf2 would be awesome
to make him more proportional and lifelike would throw the overall cartoony style of the game way off, so im going to leave proportions how they are.
[/ QUOTE ]The legs still seem too normal given the huge exaggeration of the upper body. Take a look at some pics of body builders and note that even in "real life" the thighs and calfs are almost grotesquely developed. This guy needs something similar imo, not longer legs, just much beefier.
The facial expression also looks too neutral. He wouldn't be a teeth-gnashing psycho-slasher, so maybe go the other route and have him looking all Mother Theresa? Beatific, I think the word is.
I think the proportions are fine; yeah it threw me, but in context, on screen and animated I think itll be obvious enough that its stylized.
What threw me more after that, was the pretty realistic texture. That is to say, it seems like you're going realistic and getting conflicting messages from your exaggerated forms and texture. Basically I think if the texture were as exaggerated as the form, or at least reflected it, it'd be a lot tighter.
Thats my input anyways
and its all textured with the "realistic" style texture which kinda confuses the overall theme.
i also think just by throwing jesus and "his friends" together to fight demons with guns is really missing out on a lot of oportunity to be clever with this game
If this were mine, I would spend a little time tweaking the silhouette to match real muscles, I'm not saying however to change the overall proportions
That's just my opinion. I think the model is pretty good overall, just seems like more of a physical character than spiritual.

You know my one teacher made that prop for the movie, haha.
I like the idea, deities fighting each other. I can see how this may offend peeps, but really in the end it's all about how fun it is, and seeing Jesus beat the shit out of Shiva(whom I hope you include) would be a fun sight.
Oh, and if you whip him up, be sure to include some signs of nailing as well, either blody holes or stigmatic scar tissue.
Not too sure I like it for a Jesus character. Looks more like Rambo. Jesus is a symbolic/spiritual character so I'd think it would be best to have him skinny and tall. Save the big and bulky for another character.

I agree, when I think of a kick butt Jesus, I think of like the one like in Bible Fight.

XD
It's amazing how far he's come in 2 years.
Thanks for making my night ...
this game needs to be made.
hahaha....
Should have taken only 3 days.... *looks around*.... AMIRITE?!
God looking back at this old work is embarrassing yet satisfying.
Also, the idea reminds me a bit of the Adult Swim game, Bible Fight.
