I don't know if you guys have seen this before, but Digg had it posted about a week ago. The Digg Effect has finally seemed to worn off, so you can actually try it out now: http://make3d.stanford.edu/

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Carnegie Mellon did this first, and better, with FotoWoosh.

Yeah, I finally got a chance to TRY it and the results aren't as great as I've seen done by others. The other versions I've seen weren't free to try through a website though

But this version looks like they just superimpose the image onto a tunnel shaped box.

Google should buy this, or develop their own.
They need it for Google Maps

google has sketchup. And its employed in google earth. Google maps would just suck major bandwidth if they implemented a full 3d scalable display. Heck google maps already stalls my connection half the time.
