Our client located in Carlsbad, CA is currently looking for a highly skilled Special Effects Artist to work closely with effects programmers to ensure visual quality of procedeural effects and create all aspects of 2D and 3D game effects, including particle systems, animating textures, polygonal effects meshes, and assets that may be used procedurally by programmers. Utilize some of the most state-of-the-art technology in creating realistic effects such as fire, smoke, and explosions. Using some of the most advanced 3D software, simulate and render animations of in-game effects as proof-of-concept for current and future hardware. Be a part of our clients team in the creation of their next AAA-titled major release on the PS3 and XBox 360!
What You Will Be Doing:
Contribute to design and/or conceptualization efforts as needed.
Help create foundational particle systems for game engine using proprietary tools.
Create polygonal and texture effects assets to be used by programmers.
Meet project deadlines / milestones as set by project leads.
Actively participate in team / department meetings.
What You Will Bring:
Ability to model and texture in 3D.
Experience with particle effects.
Minimum of two years of applicable industry experience.
Strong technical aptitude related to 3D modeling tools and game engine technologies.
Fluent knowledge of Maya and Photoshop.
Graphic design or fine art skills a plus.
Experience with programming or scripting languages a plus.
Experience with motion picture quality rendered effects a plus.
Ability to be receptive to art direction and to perform well within a collaborative team environment.
What Your Demo Reel Needs:
Samples that demonstrate 3D effects work (online, CD, VHS or DVD format) - muzzle flashes, explosions, smoke, fire, etc. Applicants must provide demo reel/CD/DVD or website address to be considered for any artist position
Location/Relocation:
This is an onsite, fulltime position located in Carlsbad, CA. Relocation assistance WILL BE provided for candidates located within the United States.
