Greetings Everyone,
I am new in the World of modeling and game development. I got maya trough a friend at school and started reading on how model. I tryed to create a low-poly sword, and it came out pretty well (as far as I know). One question though, how can I reduce the polycount on the handle. If I set the axis divisions lower, it gets less polygons, but it also lose's it's round shape. Is there any ways to work around this?
Oh, and sorry for the pretty big image

The smooth modifier (or whatever maya calls it) will make it render smoother than it is.
Also, you could get by with only 1 edge segment on the sword, you have 2.
I think the hand guard is much too blocky.
Is this any better?
also, I can't tell by looking at this one like the other, but make sure you delete the faces at the top of the handle if you haven't already (the ones in the hilt)
is it really based on a sword? looks like lego.
My advice is to do a few maya tutorials in low poly modelling, really find out the difference between nurbs, quads and so on.
