looking good so far. his head is a bit funny though, couldn't you do something with an alpha texture to get the 3 fin things happening?

I think his torso looks a tad big in your model; Dog is much more about his limbs than the torso.

Nice one!
I agree with ComradeJ though, scale down the torso a tad and maybe exaggerate the limbs more, then you'll have nailed it.
