Trying to Find a Reliable Photo Sharing Program:

Here is my problem:
I need to find a reliable photo sharing program for our graphics department that can be used across a network of
computers.Take into consideration we have both PC and Mac users in our office, with the only place to store data is
on a mac x-serve or SAN from what am told.

Requirements for the software to have:
- It must be able to edit photos meta data per photo or multiple groups of photos.
- The ability for anyone from our company to add photos, download the preexisting ones but not edit the originals.
- The software must be able to do quick searches based on keywords/ meta data through all photos
in specific folders or all folders.
- Program must be able to handle thousands of photos (5,000+ photos).
- It would be nice to have the ability to have some sort of light box feature in the program.
- All the picture files must have an auto-update feature of some kind. We constantly add and remove photos
all the time for projects.
The only program I have seen that even comes close to this is by Extensis.
