I have developed a terrible habit of leaning on my left elbow whilst working, causing my hand to go numb. could be a pinched nerve or something. really hard habit to break though.
I've had this happen before many times. Give it time, it should gradually regain feeling. Usually my pinky and ring finger would be numb, along with that side of my hand. Stop leaning. When you have the urge to lean, take a break. Walk around, stretch, do a few exercises. I use an office chair without arm rests to keep me from holding myself up with them.
yes, we all believe that you're leaning too often on your elbow, causing your hand to go numb. Try wanking with your other hand or get someone else to do it for you.
Happened to me also. Not complete numbness, but on my right hand numbness from the wrist up on the pinky and ring finger side. Went away a few months after doing the cushion thing.
Geez, get up and move, man. I'm certain your HR has documentation about the health risks of sitting at a PC all day (as lame as they are). I'm pretty sure it's the law that you know about it. Go ask. Unless you're working at home, then it's all your fault.
ElysiumGX > I get the same ring/pinky numbness every now and then too, just correcting my posture always does the trick.

I get that quite often, especially with my pinky finger. I've had it get so cold once before that it was extremely painful to bend or move it for a few days after.
I make sure I stretch and move around as often as I can, even if its just to refill a glass of water or just see what other people in the studio are up to.

what about getting something cushioned or a gel wrest to lean on?
Cushion + exercise...chances are its because not enough blood circulation.
