I only read one sentence on that site and it already cracked me up -> "The emergence of tendencies or requirements towards the strictly quad topology have emerged from the increasing ease quad topology can be derived."
I read an article yesterday about how inexperienced people with no idea so often make tutorials that other new people learn (improperly) from.
This is the sort of completely mis-applied information someone doing 3D graphics in the early nineties and has been teaching but not learning ever since comes up with.
"This Guide is FREE for every one TO SHARE. If you don't think something's correct, or have doubts and/or questions about anything, feel free to email me (Megamorph) at this address (click on it). I will review your email and, if necessary, make changes to this website. If I disagree, I will still respond to your email and tell you why."

"Generally, the conventions vary by different amounts and strictness of rules. The descriptions are arranged from the most "free" and allowing down to the most restrictive conventions"
You could bend space with language like that
Of course its real. Have you really never come across people who talk and act like that, dressing up minimal and basic knowledge in a mad tangle of self-indulgent bollocks?
"Thus, the detail was often simulated by some very optimized and professional-looking texturing, which often included really cheap effects like lighting and glossiness baked to one single color map."
