looking for an old car design game from the 80's

I'm looking for an old game from the mid 80's, it was a car design sim. You design the car and then the game runs various tests on it and prints out a report on your car... you don't even get to drive your car but for some reason I loved it and I still have a folder full of printouts from it.

Detroit? Might not be the same one, since Detroit was from '94. Sounds nearly identical though...

I loved that game. Keep wanting to remake it, but with more customizable parts, and in 3d.

You could run marketing campaigns for your cars, you had to target the right markets for the kind of car you were making, in order to get the most sales.

Perversely fun. I might see if I can dig it up again...

After thinking some more, it seems you're probably remembering Car Builder.

Motor City was another one in a similar vein.
