Saw Sweeney Todd over the weekend and I rather enjoyed it, lotsa blood and gore, good revenge tale. I'm familiar with the source material so I went into the movie expecting alot of singing and gore so I wasn't as /surprised as the rest of the theater crowd.

OMFG SPOILERZ

I would like to form some kind of being from the average, American movie going audience so I could punch it in the face. Most of the theater laughed in disbelief at the ending because it wasn't a sappy happy ending showing Anthony and Johanna running away living happily ever after.

I want to see this, simply because it has Burton and Depp working together, and looked entertaining.
I didn't go to see it, because I wanted to avoid the kind of people that usually go and see these films (at least in my area, from my past knowledge)
Probably just rent it.

While I love depp (mostly) Im a bit worried about seeing a musical where the lead has no music/singing experience.

Saw it at a midnight screening the night before it opened. I liked it a lot. I had never heard of it before so I wasn't familiar with the play and I was pleasantly surprised. Good movie but careful! It's gonna' attract emo kids like flies. :P

Not my favorite Burton movie, but I still enjoyed it. I wasn't aware it was a musical, so I went expecting the typical amount of Burton-movie singing. I personally feel it would have been a stronger movie had it moved away from the musical aspect and focused in a more conventional manner.

No music/singing experience? The guy was in a band and sang in at least two of his most famous roles! (crybaby and charlie & the choco factory)

Mind Traveler

This movie was nuts. It took me a while to warm up to the singing because there was so much going on while the singing was happening, from environment noise fine tuned to roll with the melodies to the vivid stories that where being told through the music, movements, acting, it was all happening at the same time!

Great film! No complaints from me.

Most of it I didn't care for so much but some of the musical bits were memorable, and the setting/wardrabe was spot on. Oddly enough I think my fav part of the whole film was at the very beggining when the camera was rushing through town with all the frantic movement, it made me think I was really in for something different/unique.

Some musical parts were just too drawn out though, even 1 or two of the good songs wore out their welcome from extended use.
