The Plucker!! I didnt know that was getting turned into a game. I liked the aesthetics of the book so I'll have to pick the game up for sure! Your model is fantastic, but it sure seems a bit too high res for DS specs.
DS? What the christ Bobo, what kind of voodoo are you pulling to get characters like that to appear in a DS game? Are you working with all 2d backdrops or some such?
Heh, I have no idea. It was what the client wanted for a Demo. I think they had plans for a PSP port so they wanted assets they could optimize on their end. I dont know if it will make it to an actual game. I hope it does. Im a huge Brom fan and it was a very fun contract.
I don't think you're allowed to call yourself a game artist if you're not a fan of Brom. Its lovely work, regardless of whether it'll cause the DS to melt or not.
I wonder if they're chasing a contract to do the tie in for the Plucker movie that was mentioned a while back.
Amazing job for DS title huh! Scorpion is absolutely beautiful painted. Bobo, one question tho, when doing a high mesh i always know where to paint at because AO or normal map help me out on this, do you make a sketch on the mesh before knowing where to paint at? For an example, a muscle...
Nice to see you posting again Bobo. I look forward to more. I know by now you have HAD to at least open up sculpting programs like mudbox and zbrush. How come you dont wip any high res work? Don't you think you should to stay relevant in these changing times of this industry? Dont get me wrong, I dont deny the skills you have on low poly with diffuse map characters and think you are on of the BEST in the industry at them. I just am curious to know when you will start putting honest effort at high to low characters?
Well there is still a very high demand for Low poly work, especialy as a freelancer. So we still have a few good years id say aahah
and OMFG! 2 BOBO thread in a short time, I dont like this AT ALL!. You want to start finishing WIP? WHAT! im gonna have to work hard so i dont appear lazy hey?
ahah GOODWORK!. U know we should do some collab shit?
wow, I don't know what else to say. I remember my teacher showing us your website a couple years ago with all this great stuff, but it was never updated!
what i love most on your work, is the subtle mix of color and texture, its not just color to create shapes, but also texture in a way thats incredible believable. Really like your stuff , would be cool if you finished that stuff;)
Great stuff, man. Like how you nailed the painting style for the Brom-character, spot on. And the rest of the stuff is gorgeous as always - you're a hard guy to crit!
What's his right foot stepping on? At first I thought it was the loose end of a strap that was wrapped around his cane, but then I notice it continues on behind him as well. So then I thought perhaps it was the strap from his backpack, but the colours don't match.
Now I'm wondering if he's some kind of nutty uni-iceskater who fashions skate blades out of utility metal?
=P
Also, the angle of his right leg looks awkward to me. His knee points away from the camera but his foot looks like its comining in towards it.
Great idea to do this off a thumb, it definitely yielded something interesting.

You must finish that turtle, and the dwarf. They are some of my favorite game-type art I've seen in a long time.
I'll look forward to your updates as they come.

can we see the flat posted for that guy?
i did wait that so long, thank you.
And good luck

it's like an ultimate punch to the nuts.
Texture the turtle please!
This was an odd but fun exercise!
I was looking at the Conceptart.org forums yesterday and saw the thumbnail to this tremendous art thread by Adrian Smith:
http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=114001
I saw a different image in the thumbnail than what was his actual image so I decided to blow up the thumbnail and paint what I saw.
Here is an image showing the process I went through starting with the original thumbnail I enlarged:
