So, is anyone watching? Wanderlei Silva faces off against Chuck Liddell at one of the most anticipated matches ever. Guaranteed fireworks! Any MMA fans out there?
Sittin' here using one of my brothers laptops watching Seinfeld waiting for 10PM to roll around. I'm more interested in the Hewes/GSP fight than I am Liddel/Silva but I know both will be amazing.
Can't blame you, GSP is representing for you guys. I'm not so sold on Hughes x GSP though, cause I know GSP will win in brutal fashion like the last time. Wand x Chuck is actually much more of a tossup. Either way should be a great night of fights, hope Sokoudjou runs over Lyoto as well.
agree with adam. Silva is still a fav pride fighter of mine, but liddel was just too focused and had too much to lose.
I've been hughes fan for years, but since he's at the point of retiring, I've gotta say gsp is the man to rule the class for a while. His ground game looked pretty good, considering he shutout hughes on the ground!
Now he just needs to send the midget sera into retirement.
Man the Silva Liddell fight was AWESOME! I was really happy that it was a war and not a first round flash KO.. Both fighters looked great. Hope Liddell gets a great last run at the title, Wanderlei still has time.
GSP looks pretty unstoppable right now, he tooled Hughes. He's probably gonna wrestle Serra into oblivion too... Cause I doubt he's gonna stand with him again. He's the mental equivalent of Serra's physical attributes.
really nice event always felt pretty sure that machida and GSP would win but lidell vs silva was really hard to predict. Im a real wand fan so i was really hoping he would pull it off but i still felt that there was a slight edge in favor of lidell because of the style matchup. I agree about machida earning a tile shot, i seriously think he is the most likely fighter to beat rampage and i also think that rampage is the only fighter that has a big chance of beating him.
Now im gonna watch another stacked event woohoo gogo: sakurai, melendez, kawajiri, fedor, akiyama, bustamante, aoki and zentsov!
Wanderlei was very much out of his game in ufc. To be fair Chuck is far more of a boxer and I think UFC suits his style and he certainly used his reach advantage to frustrate Silva. A bit like watching a Lenox Lewis fight really.
I think Tim Sylvia is a bit more like Lewis than Chuck is. Chuck's counterpunching style is just perfect for Wandy, and he didn't fall in the "come on then" trap Wand tried to set him up like Jackson is.
Oh the same subject did anyone catch the Hung Man Choi vs Fedor fight? Just a primer: Fedor is the number 1 ranked heavyweight in MMA. He's also 6 feet tall. Hung Man Choi is 1 and 0 in MMA. He's also 7 foot 2 inches tall. Amazing fight if anyone got to see it. There wasn't much else great on that card though.
Back to the UFC 79, the first fight with the dudes from Louisiana was awesome. GSP is probably the best fighter in the UFC right now. Liddel is still on the decline but he had a good come back fight. Yeah, Brome I think all the new people lost that I can think of.
Dont agree, the Fedor fight was one of the most predictable and uneventful fights on the card and that is coming from a huuuge fedor fan. Packed card with loads of talent on it and very nice production.

79 sounds like the best card yet.

YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYYAYAYA what a fucking nice fight.
Good fights all around. The 2 main fights, IMO, were equally awesome.

He deserves a title shot.

I'm trying to remember, but did the guys who debuted in UFC last night lose? Silva, Sokoudjou... anyone else?

Soa Palelei also had his debut and looked really unimpressive and lost.
