im wanting to learn how to draw environment stuff better,
i know you need to learn all the different perspective lines to do this,
anyone know of any good books or dvds i could get,
if so let me know something,
Thanks,Chris
this has been the best perspective books ive read; clear to understand, detailed, and gets into the more complicated
aspects that most/all other books leave out:
its written like a comic textbook, similar to Mccloud's understanding comics. The art may not be as good s ryan church or feng, but its amazingly clear and indepth
I also recommend Perspective for Comic Book Artists. Its a fun way to learn perspective. Another book I would look into is Perspective Made Easy.
As for DVDs I agree with the Gnomon suggestions. Feng and Church are awesome, but Scott Robertson's DVDs are brilliant for learning perspective. The Techniques of Scott Robertson Volume 1: Basic Perspective Form Drawing is JUST about perspective! Robertson knows his shit and he's a great teacher... going through the DVD and practicing along with the lecture you'll learn HOW and WHY. His other DVDs are great as well.
oh good call, skrubbles, robertson--he's a perspective fiend. I got to see him lecture at one of the conceptart.org workshops once--anything by him has gotta be worth the price tag.
About the Robertson videos. Anyone knows where to get these fancy desklamps he is using? I think they also appear on other Gnomons. Some kind of draftsman lamp with a wooden handle to move the bulb around with ease. They look cool!

Perspective without Pain
I picked one up at staples and it is all fancy schmancy and has the little handle.
