How far are you from home for the holidays?

Howdy all,

I'm up in the land of cold and woe for the holidays visiting mom and the family. Bored out of my skull as well as the wind and snow from the lake beat against the windows here at my mother's place.

I was wonder has anyone else traveled many miles for the holidays?

I traveled from Austin, Texas to Goulais River, Ontario. 3 planes and 12 hours to get here. Fun! bleh.

Oh yes, and Happy holidays to you all I hope you all have a safe and merry time this season, whether you're freezing your ass off like myself or sweating it off like those aussie folks.

I think the more relevant question is how far are you from your computer . I'll only be travelling 30 min to my grandma's, and then another 2 hours to my other grandma's. Thank god I live in a small country that has a summer Christmas.

I'm quite a far distance from home... From Shelburne, NS and am currently in Vancouver, BC

Tomorrow I'm off to Glasgow, Scotland to spend some holiday time with my mother. That's a 5-6 hour train ride from where I am in Derby, England barring possible delays of course. Seemed a bit excessive to take a plane for such a comparitively short distance. I'm even further away from my father and brother who currently live in my native country, South Africa. I do miss them all but oddly I think distance can sometimes strengthen relationships. Its too easy to take for granted the people you care about when you see them on a regular basis.

Now that I think of it, my grandmothers partner who is from england will be spending Christmas here, which is almost exactly on the other side of the world.

I,m Typing this on my phone during my 12th hour in a car traveling from north Virginia to central florida. Hopefuly only an hour or 2 remain of this trip. Happy holidays.

Not far now, after a 5 hour plane ride :P Vancouver -> Toronto was easy-peezy.

Cool note: The plane I was on was doing its Maiden Voyage and was only on the 2nd leg of the 4 part trip: Australia to Vancouver to Toronto to Paris.

~2300 miles from VA. Spending time in Arizona with friends and family. Wish I could stay longer, but can't stay past Wednesday.

We already went to visit my family in Portland for Thanksgiving. We told my parents and my in-laws that we were not going anywhere for Christmas. Looking forward to having Christmas morning at home with my wife and the little guy

Flew from Chicago to JFK in New York then from JFK to Portland, ME and then a 2 hour driver from Portland to my parents house.

Back in Maine for the holidays but next year we plan on staying in Chicago. I hate traveling. I would much rather be relaxing in my own place.

I spend the holidays with my g/f and her mother & aunt/uncle. I don't go to California for the holidays to be with my own family. I give them a call, but it's just not worth the effort

7 hour train ride to family for me (Magdeburg to Bavarian Forrest), and it just started to snow a bit again, hardly any snow so far, but cold.

well I got back from dundee on the 14th , so I am back at home in London with the missus and the cat.

Steadfastly staying at home christmas day, but I've got to drive off to the folks first thing on boxing day, probably hung over all to hell. Not looking forward to that. Three hour drive, I can do it in two
