A general design rule for warhammer and warcraft orcs is "Needs more Dakka". Always. There is no such thing as too huge until it starts to impair their walking, at which point you can add strategically placed bites out of the material.
Really cool, Bobo, nice to see some more of your personal work again. Top stuff.
Minor crit: I love the purple shadows that the red areas fade into, but I think that should be shown elsewhere too, just to tie the whole texture together a bit more. I can't see any of that nice purple shadow on his flesh or cloth, and I think it'd be an improvement if it was hinted at all over.
not because you're a great footballer, but in the following sense:
after seeing you produce quite possibly the best examples of your art form on the planet, seeing you create something that, while still great by everyone elses standards, but falls behind by your own, is kinda disappointing.
while i love your work, i just wanna see you keep pushing the boundaries

I think he's saying Bobo should push himself more? Maybe that he wants to see him try a different art style or something.
It's hard to crit Bobo's stuff. I generally avoid these threads because it doesn't really do anything but stroke one's ego to get pages of "love it" or "awesome stuff"... but this is great. It's a nice reminder that the newest tech is not the end all, be all.
well, as much as i do like the peice, there is always room for improvement!
like, giving the orc a penis-mace would make it 10 times better, hands down. or... maybe he used his own penis as a mace.. think about that!*in eric and tarwater dota voice* get swome penace pecante mace sauce on demz creeps! ...
Thanks guys! I had a lot of fun with him. I wanted to make him look painterly so I didnt use many overlays and in the areas that I did, I typically ended up painting or smudging it back out.
Now to answer a few questions:
Rollin: When I think about WoW I think about exaggerated shapes. I had his buckle much smaller at one point but thought it looked more fun being larger.
Stoofoo: thanks, Ill look into it
Clee101: Hes right around 1500 polygons and uses a 512x512 and a 256x512. Your hybrid is looking real nice. Ill add some comments in your thread.
Vig: thanks, I have some more stuff in the works. I also have some old contract work that I can show now.
Mop: Thanks, I agree. My main goal wasnt the color shift as lighting as much as trying not to be monochromatic. One thing that drives me nuts is when people just lay down one color and just shade within that single tonal range. I like to shift my colors around a bit and think of my materials as a collection of colors.
ThE_Bird: Id love to work with you again too. Ill see what I can do.
Almighty_gir: Though Im very happy with this piece, I completely agree with you and will try to push it more in the future. Thanks!
Slainean: Heh I was actually trying to work in a different style than I normally do but I think a lot of my personal style still cam through. Im always open to critiques!
Killingpeople: I had the penis-mace but it felt too KPish which made me fell dirty Well I liked feeling dirty but uh never mind. Love you hard!
Nkoste: Ive had a few people ask me for him to be released. I might in the future but I need him for something at the moment. Thanks for asking though!
Once again thanks everyone! Now I need to get back to work on my GameArtisans entry.

I do not comprehend. Don't forget Bobo is taking an existing concept and making it his own (and fresher?), I think this work pretty much says that. How often do you see that happening? And if so, how often do you see the recreated concept surpassing the original in a unique manner?
I obviously do not share your opinion but hey everyone's entitled to their own opinion. :P

I say why is the buckle so small! I want that thing to be confused for a strange chestplate!
anyways, awesome stuff, dig the pelt of chest hair, needs a happy trail though.
And I'm with Neo_God on the buckle.

Nice stuff! You're stuff always has a nice painterly look to it, I only wish you found time for more personal work

Please explain.
dinho and rijkaard need to move on for the club's sake and their own.

Just seems like a really stupid and ill informed thing to say, and especially to present it as fact, instead of just an opinion.

He looks more eastern asian than the originals, which I think is spot on for wow orc culture! Can I have him and put into counter-strike plz!!?
