Hi guys, this is my first time posting on poly count. I made this sword based off warhammer online's orc axe concept. Please take a look and give me some critique for improvement, thanks!
And I also finished a trashcan for one of my class, critique and comment would be nice.
Hey oobersli thanks for the feedback, that actually brought up a question I've been having, when I show my props to people, should I stick with the lowest res version maps(until the texture start getting pixallated)? I understand that smaller prop should have smaller texture maps, but I also hear some people say that I should render a high res version for showcase like this.
Whats your take on that?
When presenting these...show them the higher resolution and show off the breakdowns of the textures at true resolution ...if its real big then scale it down.
But in your case you can reduce the size on the trash can for one since it won't lose as much detail and 1024 is for something more details including addition worn, weather rivets etc.
i say as long as it looks nice, whatever goes, but you could reduce these to like a 512 or even 256 and they'd still look good. If your just trying to impress the pc community ya, make em perty, but if your putting them on your portfolio, show them at realtime specs.
yes, i would go for 256 on things such as this. "you have tons of detail, the more you observe you'll find that its not detail you are after, its nuance, differentiate the two and successful you will be."

Well done!
By the way, we are hiring for a couple people on this game:

Showing them at super hi-rez that will never get used is like having them on a hi-poly model.
