So.. EE3 is out and did not do as well as I had hoped initially. I'm over it now and am in the process of doing some long overdue updates to my portfolio(that should be in the next couple weeks). I thought I'd post some of the units I did as I get them cleaned up and rendered. Here's one group shot of some units I am particularly hapyp with still:
EDIT: I did all of the units in the image. The little dude is a 256x256 with a lot of materials. The 2 big land units are 512s and the flying dude is 256x512...I think.
Keep in mind these are RTS units.
Anyway, I'm going to be updating this thread again today with some more swords and armor sorta units I hope. Laterlater!

Going to check out the demo on this one this weekend.

Seriously, they aren't bad at all. I just wish we can get some closeups and breakdowns.
Seforin: I don't plan on posting any flats on here as I don't care to go spelunking through legality of putting actual game assets on a page, sorry.
pliang: They are RTS units - there are not close-ups for a reason.=) What do you mean by breakdowns?
Heres a few of the mideast units I did. I photoshopped the shadows to darken them a bit. Oh well.
It would've been nice to see more cloth definitions painted in the clothing for the mid east warriors though.
There's an example of how large they are at maximum in game. I actually did all of the units on the screen there too. Havent really figured out how best to render t he future far eastern units and they are my personal favorites from the game. grrr.
poly putty: they ar all double size of their in game textures--its the res I painted them at. The single units would be 512s and the mounted are 512x1024. That's why these are relatively sharp.
Both sets are cool Stoofoo... please excuse the ignorance, but what was EE3?
Cool units dude! The far east guy on a camel seems to have his sword hovering at an angle away from his hands direction or is it just the camera angle?
I looked at the shot and he does indeed have a floating sword. Ill go back to that scene and correct it when i get all the other stuff sorted out.
Here's my latest render. I found that i was not happy with a lot of the western single units I did unfortunately. I'm not sure what im going to do with them. haha. Also not quite happy with this scene in general--the units i dig, i think i just need to repose them etc.
I am looking to use the Warcraft 3 engine to make an RTS game for my graduation demo reel, and I've been trying to find information on how many polys make up average units. I am looking to make units who animate as fluidly as the infantry in Act of War:Direct Action, but just being infantry I know their polycount can't be too high. if you have any tips or suggestions please let me know, Im going to post a low poly character (not textured yet) on my Sketchbook if you wouldnt mind taking a look at it and critique please, It'd be greatly appreciated
