I was just gonna post this. He was a big hero of mine, growing up in the 70's. I thought he was older than 69 though.
I remember watching snake river canyon jump on world of sport which was a tad disappointing, but still, love the image and the whole hero thing. you don't get that now.
I think most of his years were pretty damn rough. I watched a documentary on him last year, and despite all the fame and fortune, the guy's life was anything but glamorous. He probably went through as much mental and emotional anguish in his life as he did physical punishment, from the sound of it.
Yeah I was bummed when I heard this today. Weirdly I thought he was older too. He was a total hero of mine as a small child, and most definitely the reason I got a motorbike at 15. Ditto Ruz! I used to drive my mum bonkers with this:
A world icon and American hero. Sad to have lost him.
He certainly sparked my interest in motorcycles. I think everyone in the motorcycle world has imagined themselves as Evel once or twice. RIP

he crammed more into his 69 years than most people do in 90
