there's a bump to normal tool for the mac floating around somwhere, just google for it as i haven't got the link. the results are similar to what the nvidia photoshop plugin generates.
although buggy at the moment, silo 2 should make a decent high poly to low poly normal map generator if you want to go that route.

An OSX version of CrazyBump will happen, but not for a couple of months at least. Still too busy adding features to the Windows version.
For the moment, all I can recommend is to run CrazyBump using VMware or Parallels.
