I have 15 or so other UE3 tutorials available on my site, and especially the 6 material editor tutorials might be interesting for all the character modelers here who are looking into putting their stuff into UT3.
Ok I have the most generic question EVER. If I wanna create a short animation (uni work.. ) with physics and my own effects for explosions and smoke effects plus dust... Would I be able to do it within this year taking into consideration that I've never worked on UE before?
t4paN : Of all engines out there, Unreal prolly offers the best tools so yeah, I certainly think you should be able to pull it all off within a year.
You will have to make strong use of Matinee, the build in cutscene editor, and Cascade, the particle editor, also build in. Take a look at my particle tutorial: http://www.hourences.com/book/tutorialsue3cascade.htm
If you understand what happens in my tutorial, I dont think you'd have many problems with making what you want to make. The whole editor is similar to the things you see in my tutorial.
There is also going to be an official 50 million page book on the editor, to be released later this year or Q1 next year.
Showster, just released my second one yesterday man
It is not about level design though, I'll prolly do a v2 on the level design book next year or so.
Awesome thanks for the tutorials, I just made a post not more that 5 min ago about needing some unreal 3 tutorials and then I come over to P&P and find this!

Oooooh, and uber-danke for the coverage of the new fx system setup!
Will give to some associates of mine, who are making an UT3 mod. I bet they will find this real useful.
