Just thought posting links to freeware might attract unwanted attention but anyways...

I use Lavasoft adaware...S&D, AVG, Zone alarm Pro and several other apps for removal.

Uh, correctly configured router ftw? Zone Alarm was a nightmare for me. It detected one small item and shut off network connectivity completely, and refused to turn it back on untill i uninstalled it. Could'nt add it to exceptions, could'nt turn it on without it falling back off after 5 seconds. it would'nt uninstall completely, so I had to jump on anothe rpc download a kill.exe for it.

Then again, that was a few years ago. AVG/Ewido Ftw

Hmmm...sure you couldn't shut it off in msconfig? I had a similar issues and just simply reinstalled and before that while I needed to network I turn off TrueVector Services.

Then again, you mentioned this was few years back (Mine's the latest one)
