SR. TECHNICAL ARTIST
The Senior Technical Artist is expected to be the bridge between Artists and
Engineers. Individuals in this role are pro-active problem solvers who
demonstrate a strong sense of creativity and respect for aesthetics.
Candidates can be from an Art, Design, Mathematics, Engineering or Science
background; however they must demonstrate a comfort level in working with
both art and science. Working with Programming/Technical staff the Senior
Technical Artist ensures that CG assets are easily integrated into the game
engine without sacrificing artistic integrity.
Senior Technical Artists will be expected to understand how game-play and
architecture issues can affect content creation and successfully develop
workflows to compensate for such limitations on artistic content.
Responsibilities:
- Write scripts, expressions, and plug-ins to improve efficiency of various
artist tasks.
- Schedule, manage, and develop workflows and tools for next-generation
content creation.
- Help to research, define, and maintain the production pipeline and its
various processes and workflows.
-Track down problems in current pipeline, determine best course of action
and implement solution.
- Help develop and implement various skeletal and facial systems, of varying
complexity and limitation.
- Mentor and train other Technical Artists in areas of expertise.
Requirements:
- BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Graphic Art or a related
field.
- At least 5+ years in computer generated art, preferably in game
development.
- Work with production team in various stages of modeling, scene setup,
animation at a very high level.
- Deep understanding of various scripting and programming languages (i.e.
Mel, Python, C/C++, Maya API, Perl, Cg/HLSL Shaders).
- Intimate knowledge of one or more 3D packages, Maya preferred.
Understanding:
- Compression, computer/game hardware, next generation hardware, particle
systems, character skeletons, image manipulation tools, command line
systems, inverse and forward kinematics, shader systems, lighting, Maya
- Very strong knowledge of the following Real Time systems: Rendering,
dynamics, Animation Blending.
Location/Relocation:
This is onsite, fulltime position located in Santa Monica, CA. Relocation
assistance WILL BE provided for candidates located within the United States.
Salary:
$85-100K Base + Bonus + Full Benefits
