not sure it's ready for this but well...
this is based on capcom's illustration, not on the game sprite (they are quite different) I took some decisions to make it work in 3d proportions/sculpt wise too (and also because I want to enjoy what i'm doing sticking to a concept without adding anything sounds more like work than fun
)
aaaaaaanyways think the highpoly is pretty much done, maybe a few tweaks here and here...
http://www.fightersgeneration.com/characters2/ibuki-ts.jpg <-- this is the pic I used as main ref, although I had tons of different refs for her, but since every drawing is a different interpretation I thought I should just pick one I like and do my own thing starting from here.
planning to pose her on a little stand that will be a reproduction of a part of her stage in SF3 third strike

Nice one
Clothes are great!
It's shaping up to be a cracking realization of the concept work- It's been ace seeing this progress via the update pics you've sent me mate
I think the smooth face is more of a subjective issue, if the face starts getting more detailed with creases and folds, there is the danger of losing the minimalist look that you tend to see in eastern character design.
I'm quite intrigued on how the hair will turn out on the final model and whether you're planning on sorting out some cloth simulation for the pants
After looking at her again, I think the neck is a bit on the long side, the head needs to come down by a couple of centremetres and I can see where Cheese On Toast is coming from with the forearm Apart from that she's looking pretty sweet
Can't wait to see her textured up dude
Maybe narrow the sides of her skull, namely the crown of the skull, and I think she'd look WAY better. And don't forget temples-- they tend to be a little flatter that the rest of the head-- that's probably what's throwing me off-- she has no temples right now!
Keep it up! It looks good so far.
the proportions, well now I don't really know what's going on but I though they were ok, she's meant to be quite young (15/17 years old) hence the young face but i'll try to see if I can make it a bit older but I DONT want it to be realistic or like the concept, I just want to like it (which is the case right now but I'll try to tweak it more using the suggestions made.
shotgun : here's the above posted screenwith heads ref, if you can spot anything wrong feel free to tell me, I'll fix it.
I know the belt is quite high but I think she wears it quite high anyways (same level as the belly button)
so yeah sorry if some people don't like the face as it is, I'll make some more tweaks (probably age it a little to make it fit with body proportions, I think that's the problem rather than the head itself being too small). but I want to keep the direction I have with the model as it is.
Also perhaps I would suggest shrinking the forehead or elongating the face a bit. I dunno.
BTW, make a mini tut on how to do cloth!
But honestly, only take the crit you agree with. There's no sense listening to bad advice.
Definitely looks like Ibuki to me, and I like the contrast of smooth vs. tight detail.
with the eyes-in-center heads proportions, this is how it should look:
Maybe You can try just modif her nape of the neck (nuque ?).
...maybe it's too tall.
Don't make the head smaller !
I think You can also see once more time the ear -
the hole (entry) is too large , non ?

eh? it's fine as it is. you people are weird.

Quoted for truth.
I think this is an awesome model from the floor up, I don't think I could critique it honestly without feeling like a nit picker.
I would very much like to know your technique for getting your cloth to look like that though. Gahdamn.
The clothing is great!
im surprised noone has broken out the loomis drawings yet.. gotta watch out for those loomis-thumpers.
she looks good. proportions work with the concept.
shotgun's head example looks way too small.

Looks just great the way it is if you look at it for what it is.
The shirt still has to go tho! and a pant-less shot would make it easier to appreciate the proportions. All in the name of Art.
I'll hold my comments until I see the pant-less version. Thx.

That's not all you'll be holding. -.-
Looking cool V. Dig the crispy pants.
maybe I'll add some leaves flying, dunno yet, rendered in 8monkeylabs awesome viewer of awesomeness, of course.
I think it would be nice to see a little more detail in the diff on the flesh but the style spot on
btw, I NEED TO TEST THIS ENGINE
but we want to see chun li now...(in a third strike fashion of course)
wouah Valh ! Those screenshots are fantastic ! Master piece man, really

Yeah, me too man, btw, nice job on the character
Spacemonkey : Thanks man, actually there's some detailing on the flesh (skinpores, different colors, veins etc) but you can't really see them because of the lighting, and I wanted them to be quite subtle still to keep the anime look.
Renaud : thanks a lot man
Jibowski : Thanks bug Pior for Chun-Li, he's slacking off big time on this one
Bugo : thanks, I liked your take on Yun too, I was actually planning to model him aswell
wires and flats (original at 2048*2048)
T-posed boring shot
SF4 trailer mockup version
You put a huge amount of polys in her face! His checks are super smooth and round with all these polys but what about the boobs!?
how about putting her in UT3 now for us to play as?
You gotta build the others now.
