I've just turned off new registrations for the boards a few minutes ago. We've been having a series of Russian folks registering with scripts for what I can only imagine is future spam messages to the boards. I plan on leaving it locked for a few days. I apologize to any that this may inconvenience, except for the spammers. They can go die in a fire.
If you absolutely need to register in the meantime, you can contact myself or any of the moderators and we'll see what we can do on a case by case basis.
Looking out for the crowd,

They're mainly just trying to target popular forum software, which can be easily searched on google. They are hoping to get their web address into a user profile, then it ups their site in googles results (google bases part of their algorithm on how often your site appears elsewhere). If they get a spam post, with a sig and content about their site, then it's a bigger bonus to them. So, basically, make sure you kill their accounts also (if you haven't been).
