I've never played a Fire Emblem game. The one coming out today looks pretty good. Anyone ever played anything from this series? Opinions? Expectations?

    Those older ones on the MegaDrive/Genesis (or was is SNES?) and the ones on the GBA were pretty good.

    Really nice 2d animations and decent turn based strategy (although as always dumbed down from what one is used to on the PC). But the story was a bit generic AFAIR.

    JK: super famicom. didn't come to america until the gba ones if I remember correctly.

    I quite like the series. disappointed the Wii version is the same engine as the gamecube one with no enhancements from what i've been hearing.

    I've heard you can save mid-battle now (not just a "turning the system off and it restores later" but an actual, normal save system). That's probably the biggest feature ever for me. I'll admit, I emulated the GBA ones because I got pissed off losing characters and having to start battles over and over again.

    Really solid games though. Sounds like this one is... another one.
