dds broken in max 7

max no longer recognizes dds as a file format. i recently installed orionflame 4 modelling tools for max and i'm wondering if that might have caused this.

can i copy some files from a coworker's max installation to fix this? i'm using max 7.0 sp1 and windows xp. is there a way to unistall orionflame?

i noticed in add remove programs there is a 3dsmax dds plug-in. can i remove it and then reinstall it? where would i find the installer for the plugin?

i couldn't find any contact info at orionflame.com.

Hmmm, h buried his email, very hard to find, not a good idea. Then at the end it's an image, not text...


Anyhow I recall having this problem too at one point. Can't recall what I did to fix it though.

looks like orionflame was causing the problem. i uninstalled it and dds's work again. thanks for the email address eric, i talked to him and he's pretty surprised this is happening. i wonder if its only an issue with max 7. i remember polyboost breaking dds's too.

Cool. Too bad you had to get rid of it though, some cool tools in there.

there was nothing broken about dds in polyboost. however for some strange reason it got unloaded from the plugin manager (the dds file plugin, that is) upon installing it. a few clicks fixed that problem.
i guess this is a similar case.
