Ok, so...Ive been working with the topo tools in zbrush, and it appears I have had my first newb move.
I did a solid chunk of my retopologized mesh, and then saved it out to work on another day. Going back to it, i realize that I only have the baked out geometry that the in-progress topo produced, not the actual active topo itself. (perhaps i did save it correctly and dont know how to get back into the edit mode? I tried to but standard procedure doesn't seem to work)
So Im thinking, if i use the quick-topo on the mesh im stuck with (hold shift and paint, auto generated the topo 1 for 1 on your faces) I will have the exact same topology that i left off with. Great that works...now the key question...
Is there any way to apply this topology to another tool? ie: the high rez one that I initially topologized to end up with what i have.
fingers crossed...

just do the whole process again when you're starting a new mesh topo with the zsphere, but use the "select topo" button and you can pick the mesh you made previously
