That's right up there with the "pillow gun-case".
As for the anti-American bs, its either people wish they at least had the option to own a gun, or pussy American kids that don't respect their right to over throw the government when the time comes... heh.
I done reckon them thar freedom-snatchers is done gonna be real sarry fer shur fer tryin' ta burglar up my ranch. I figger this here gun rack'll fit nicely next to my apple pie an' my Amuricun flag.
I love how commercials like that show the device getting installed over and over again. I heard about this the other day and thought the idea was pretty cool, until I thought about having the loaded gun there. I have my shotgun next to my bed, but the ammo isn't as easy to access. I wouldn't bother hanging it from my bed unless it was loaded.

You talk of overthrowing the government as if we didn't have one of the most (if not THE most) apathetic general populace in the world towards the government. Guns are just tools, and as far as overthrowing the government, can you point me to a popular violent overthrow in the last few decades that has been stable or successful? On the other hand, I can point you to countless children that have died from mis-kept guns and, more importantly, the plethora of gun violence the easy availability of guns creates.
I really hope that quip about "anti-americanism bs" was a joke...

Cuba? You could debate it's success (they've done alright for themselves considering our embargo), but I'd say almost half a century with the same government could be considered stable.
It's a good thing that the patented BackUp® bedside shotgun holder wasn't around back when Castro and Che overthrew Batista, otherwise they likely would've conquered the entire world! We have to be careful and insure that this technology doesn't fall into the wrong hands.

r u a bloody commie son? Yeah you missed the humor in my post, interweb FTW! Pussy = apathy, tomoto tomato.
Honestly its not the guns, the video games or the music that does the killing. Just like money, guns aren't inherently evil, and don't do anything other than collect dust when left to their own devices. The problem isn't with the tools of society its with society, fix society and guns become a non issue. Try to remove guns and all you do is downgrade the weapons they use if you are successful, which you'll never be. Keep going and no one will have access to a toothbrush because it can be fashioned into a shank or have shoelaces...
Where have all the corners gone?
Government took em out.
Rocks?
Gone... government took em out.
Why is everything bolted down and made out of foam rubber?
Guess...
I'm all for tighter gun laws and making sure that nut jobs don't have access to guns, but lets make sure we fix what needs to be fixed, first.
"The problem isn't with the tools of society its with society, fix society and guns become a non issue."
I like how you solved societies ills in one sentance. The problem is you can't really "fix" a society. The problems are too complex and they take place in a real world. Sure in a world where everyone got along, no one had something that the other wanted, no one ever lied cheated or stole anything guns would be a non-issue...The problem is that is a fantasy land that has not, will not, and cannot really exist. The same problem exists with the logic behind the war on drugs. The drug czar's stated goal is to erradicate addiction (and by that they really mean all use, except the ones they get campaign contributions from) which is an unachieveable goal. People have been using drugs for as long as we've had any record and most likely thousands of years before that. Its not going to disappear because you throw some misguided laws at it. Basing policy on the hope of reaching candy mountain seems to me like a bad move. Violence is a reality. Drugs and addiction are a reality. The sooner we approach those things with a realistic mind set the sooner their effects could possibly be mitigated.
Ahh come on we need a good polycount pillow fight.
My point wasn't so much that guns shouldn't be taken off the streets and made less accessible, its that people who choose violence will find something else to cause violence with. Take away the guns, everyone picks up knives, take away the knives and everyone uses their fists, make everyone wear boxing gloves and everyone starts head butting. Address the issue of violence and it can go away, if thats too lofty of a goal I'm sure everyone would like to hear the fast easy alternative that no one has thought about. You don't fix society by tossing your hands in the air and saying "its too big for me, round off all the corners".
It's just as naive to think that violence will disappear when guns do.
Look how successful our war on guns is, gun related murders are down by 25%!
Oh but death by all other violent means is on the raise so its a wash... I'm glad we spent all that money.

And what did those people do with their guns after overthrowing their government? Well of course, they used them to install and keep a dictator for half a century!
Vig: Yes, of course the problem is society. But you know what? Like you admit, its never going to be 'fixed.' There will always be scarcity and competition that will drive people to violence. But you know what? I'd feel MUCH safer if I didn't have to worry about getting shot, and had to fear a toothbrush shank instead. That is what it is about, that's what gun control is about. Of course people will get murdered, get mugged, there will be violence. But there is a BIG practical difference between guns and other 'personal' weapons. Get rid of guns, there won't neccessarily be less violence, or more peace or less muggings, but there most certainly will be less deaths, its hardly a point you can argue.
You're right, "lets make sure we fix what needs to be fixed, first." How reducing the amount of violent fatalities and gun-related child deaths isn't a priority, I don't know.
