Greetings gore lovers,
This LPC will run untill November 4th. So you have just over two weeks to design your very own
Zombie horde!
Unfortunately for the DS, it is not really capable of displaying lots of poly crunching zombies at the same time. So a horde would be a very intense challenge indeed, so it's big brother the PSP takes over. The rules are as follows:
1. poly (TRIANGLES) budget is 35,000 for the entire scene
2. you may spend 30,000 for the zombies
3. you may include a hero or heroes if you wish, these must be in the 30,000 budget
4. the remaining 5,000 are for the scenery. All scenery must be in this budget.
5. your horde must consist of more than 20 zombies. More the merrier. (cloned or unique)
6. character textures are two 128x128's (plus alpha and spec sheets) per character. (head and body)
7. scenery budget is 4 128x128's (plus alpha and spec sheets)
These rules are made to be bent, and are guidelines only. However the scene must total:
- no more than 35,000 triangles.
- more than 20 zombies on screen.
- no more than 14 128x128 texture sheets (lossless file format, totalling no more than 2mb in data)
The screen size for pimping is PSP (480 x 272). You are not allowed bilinear filtering.
Phew!
Bonus points will be awarded for animated zombies and extra gore.
GO ZOMBIES GO!
* The Zombie clause:
You are welcome to make a single zombie and pass it on to someone else, or work in teams.

but im working on my thesis and several paitings and a flash animation.
fuck
I'd probably do it if it was just a low poly, diffuse-mapped zombie model, but doing up to 5 unique characters plus a 5000-triangle scenery and all on a set amount of 128x128 textures in about 2 weeks sounds more like work than fun.
I dunno, maybe I'll start one zombie model and see how it goes from there.
Although you could still do that, just clone it 20 times then slap in a road texture on a plane... the budget is only a max, feel free to use 2 triangles for your environment.
128x128's are algedly what the PSP uses. 2 per character seems fair? any higher and we start to stray from the low poly ethic here
