Eyes help

Does anyone have a good reference on how big eyeballs should be in reference to the head? I am trying to sculpt a female head, and not that it looks fantastic to begin with but its always worse when I try to work in a sphere as an eyeball as opposed to just sculpting the details.

if you're making your models to a real world scale.. an average fully grown human eye is 23mm... a little bit smaller for kids, but not much
