Anyone have tips for traveling with your lappy? I read that laptop power adapters are built for travelers in mind and they can handle between 100 and 240 volts.

I bought my mom a laptop for her trip to Thailand and after doing some research, I found that their outlets can accept the US plug.

sooooo, you think my mom will be fine plugging her lappy directly into the hotel's socket?

Check the power adapter for the laptop. They usually list the input voltages it accepts. I have 2 Dell adapters here and they say Input: 100-240V AC. Manufacturers make the adapters universal so they only have to produce one model of adapter. Then they just ship the outlet cord needed for the region.

I went through China and Japan this summer. I did have all sorts of adapters but everywhere I went actually had American outlets so I never needed them. The hotels also had adapters you could borrow if you needed them.

I wanna go to Thailand. Its supposed to be awsome.
