Been having a horrible time getting max to draw out normal maps w/opacity(and normal maps in genral) in the vieports in real-time...always turns to gobbly gook.. and I have to hit the redraw button ~ lots. anyway the solution seems to be setting the Transparency in the the viewport setting to none. Seems to fix everything..and the opacity maps are still drawn correctly.
Could be my card too though ati mobility x1300
anyway thought I would share..and save some poor soul the frustration
