I made that avatar back when I was in mid middle school and was one of the first things ever related to games I ever did (sprite editting counts to!)
So as you can see a pissed off modified middle finger megaman character.
A friend of mine says it gives off the wrong impressions and is rude.
And people who work at studios might see me as arrogant and such.
So The question is people, should I lose my avatar or keep it?
Im asking some of you high up people your opinions =p

Sectaurs has a giant Anus for his avy (And before that it was a vagina monster), for awhile (I think) EQ had a pair of modeled tits as one. We have a respectable board member named "poopinmymouth".
In other words, no, I don't think it matters all that much. Now if you have pictures of yourself doing coke off a hookers ass as your public myspace userphoto, then yeah, that could be problem.
and honestly, I didn't even notice your megaman was giving the finger.
I just wanted to make sure I didnt come off arrogant or anything =p
(applies to all who read this)
(oh shit oh shit I just reread it!!)
I am offended and frankly appalled by such hooliganism! The World Wide Web is meant to be a tool for learning, not for the raising of certain derogatory fingers! Please remove your user display picture, or I will have to contact the local authorities.

Serious? Dude, it's just an avatar. It's not a raging boner or anything of the sort. You're fine.

And even if it WERE a raging boner...I don't think people here would be too offended.

I wouldn't go so far as to call Ben 'respectable', but he is a member.
was looking at your website and i must say that your portfolio compared to your avatar makes you look way worse..
whats this?
i would rather spend some time perfecting your art rather than asking about avatars.
ps: dont take this the wrong way. its just to help you
I'm probably the tightest tight ass around here and I could care less. More art, less second guessing. I suggest if this is the kind of stuff that keeps you up at night, go model when it wakes you up =P This kind of stuff saps too much energy that could be better spent being creative.
You might want to check out setting up an easier to update site, or create a WIP section that is easy to maintain, not everyone reads every thread, especially people who never come to PC.
this anus got me a job. of course, i had to explain it at the interview... my inspirations, reference sources, that sort of thing.
If you hadn't pointed it out, I'd have never known your guy was holding up a middle finger.

Me too, I just figured it for a ripped megaman sprite. I like megaman, so that's cool.

To some people, your name/avatar might matter. But honestly, in the end it comes down to your work. If you're a good artist, they're not going to care that you have a cartoon character flipping the bird.
(hmmm, speaking of avatars and old work...*makes avatar*)
