Max newbie here again..
Getting along with max for awhile, and try to learn texturing part now.
Read a lot about "Ambient Occulsion" pass for pre-texturing, and looked around, but it seemed not much tutorials are available for that.
Will appreciate if someone can point out link or two...
Need to understand details step, if it is possible.

Now in the Render to Texture dialog you can add different kind of maps(diffuse,shadow,specular,normalsmap etc), if you have MR as your renderer you should be able to select Ambient Occlusion(MR).
Then just go to the Render To Texture menu (keyboard toggle is 0) and add your mesh.
Any more than that, read the Max Help on "Render to Texture" (also referred to as RTT) and the help on "Advanced Lighting" and the "Skylight", that will tell you all of the specific information.
