Company Overview:
WhiteMoon Dreams is a new development team brought to life by longtime industry trench-workers who love games and the people who make them. Were a small group, compared to many of the teams making games today, and we put a lot of work into our tools and production pipelines to allow us to stay small, build fantastic titles, and still have lives outside of work.
WhiteMoon Dreams is based in the artist-rich city of Pasadena, California, just blocks from its historic Old Town district, which offers fabulous places to eat and wonderful spaces to live. Were located in a historic loft building that, in addition to being a great place to make games, also happens to be a great place to throw parties. Which we do.
Job Profile:
Senior Character Artist - Full Time
Job Description
There are characters waiting to be born! Humans, beasties, robots, you name it! Got some ideas? Let's play! Work with our talented Art Director and Concept Artists to bring these and other tasty denizens of our world to life.
Requirements:
+ You love characters - all types - from the gritty, nasty Warhammer 40k Space Marine, to sweet, spoiled Sen from Spirited Away.
+ You understand the tech behind a complete character. You understand shaders, rigging, skinning, animation, LoDs, all the maps that make them beautiful and how to interface with the people who help you make all this happen.
+ The actual work will entail working with the art director, concept artists, meshing, remeshing, UV layout, texturing and skinning. You are a master of these things. Rigging and animation are handled by someone else.
+ You can communicate. Tell us that you're going to be late, tell us that you've got too much work, tell us you don't like our hair (or lack thereof). We thrive on communication.
+ Minimum of 2-4 years with a professional grade 3D modeling package. The final output needs to be in Maya for the time being, but up until the character is skinned, you can work in whatever you like. Zbrush, Mudbox, Silo and Modo are all known, understood and loved here.
+ Same thing with Photoshop or Painter.
+ Must be proactive and a self-starter. We are ONLY comprised of these at this point. This ties into the communication thing. You point out issues and work proactively to help solve them. You can manage your own time responsibly and don't need someone breathing over your shoulder to keep you up to date and aware of your tasks.
Qualifications:
+ 2-4 years doing low poly game character work.
+ You can draw.
+ Experience dealing with contractors is a plus.
Portfolio Requirements:
+ Character models
+ Normal, Spec, Diffuse and any other maps you use on your characters
+ Character/Creature concepts
+ An updated resume
Please don't submit resumes without reels. After all, we'd really like to see what you can do.
