Some more detailing left to do, mostly in the back. I'm pretty sure I don't want to stay under 1000 tris / 512 textures with this but I'll see how the lowpolying goes. Hoping to have that & the unwrap sorted by Sunday.
Thanks for the comments all The highpoly is pretty much complete. I haven't really settled on a color scheme yet though I'm slowly growing tired of that lemon/brownish one. I'll see how it looks in an iPod nano / flaagan's ride kind of green with a big red/white/black decal on the back (thinking about a fictional brewery logo or something). As for the windscreen shape, I've been playing around with that front section for a while and found that a wider ship with a slightly bigger nose looks prettier in a way. I guess it's a matter of personal preference.. anyway, progress renders:

Though, the diffuse might suffer as a result. Maybe lay out the diffuse all unique, but mirror the hell out of a 2nd UV channel for the normal map.
Oh hey there sorry I haven't had much time to work on this since I was putting together a new 'puter last week and otherwise being very busy enjoying a sunny weekend (BBQing, beering, biking, etc). I'm still dragging a few things over from the old PC and I'm hoping to continue this model tomorrow and have the lowpoly+unwrap done by the weekend, along with an update.
As for the specs, well..... as mentioned in my first post, I am probably going to drop out of the challenge by spending more than a thousand polies and a set of 512x512 textures. While I found the subject matter awesome enough to get and keep me going, right now I am really looking for more of a 360/PS3-ish (or higher) spec racer model to add to the folio.
just out of curiosity, did you build this exclusively out of polygons? I've been slightly interested in learning about Sub-Ds and Nurbs for a while now... just never done anything with that interest

Yup, the same. Peppi made a zip with the shader and all the maps already made at 16x16 so it would load right away. I'll host it on my site soon, and post a link here.

but why does the dirt doesn´t have some .. "wind-effekt" .. or is this lil glider just standing ;p
