Was wondering if anybody new any good "toots" for zbrush or mudbox, as these seem to be the most popular programs these days, for Environmental models. I'm trying to make my way into the industry as an "Enviro guy" I noticed alot of company's like to have you know zbrush or Mudbox. I would like to see how it can apply to such angular geometry like buildings. I only see mudbox and zbrush samples of organic or character geometry. I have no knowledge of these programs either so I'm sure that doesn't help. But anyway, any replies are appreciated. Thanks in advance

well when u get mudbox, they have online documentation and video tutorials about how mudbox can be used for making pillars etc. the stamps and stuff make for good methods of adding detail on non-organic materials....

not that i've ever done enviro pieces with mudbox....

The main problem I see is with tiling modular pieces. Since you paint to the edge of the model piece, it will obviously not tile properly to the other side. Perhaps ZBrush has options to fix this, but Mudbox doesn't (yet). For now, you could turn on mirroring, so that as you paint the edge, it's mirrored to the other side. Then you can paint out the excess mirrored bits, and paint the continuation.
