Using Maya 8.5 with Vista

Now that I got a new system Maya 8.5 seems to be working much better than my old system on Vista and XP. I know no versions were intended for Vista and some things may not be functioning properly, but I still plan on using it. I was wondering if anyone else out there is using 8.5 with Vista. I have seen a lot of people bashing Vista and using XP for Maya, but is there anyone out there with working with Vista and Maya 8.5?

I managed to get Maya 8.5 64 Bit with Windows Vista working fine, but it seems a little slow at times. When I load up a model with +2500 polys it goes slow when I navigate around the viewport, but after using smooth to subdivide the mesh by 4 it seems make it go faster than before. Somehow something gets intialized to make things go normally after subdividing. I have no idea what it is, but it is usuable for me. Does anyone have any tips.

When I first started accessing the hotbox the current panel turned white, but now it works normally. Not sure what I did, but I'm glad the hotbox is usable.

Does anyone has any advice or tips on making 8.5 run smoother without upgrading my CPU or graphics card?
