wacom problem.....

i have a large intuos 3...never had a prob. less than a year old. today...it just doesn't work. the little blue light comes on, but nothing registers. i tried both the pen and the mouse. NADA. i tried new drivers. NADA. i called tech support. they asked if i could try it at a different computer...which i can but not til tomorrow.

so...i'd like to work tonight...i am basically wondering if any of you have had an issue w/your wacom not working and then found some crazy miracle cure.

Does the little blue light blink a lot occasionally, and sometimes you get a "USB Device Not Recognized" error from windows, or does it just not respond to the mouse or the pen? Have you tried the diagnostics to see if the tablet is communicating with the computer? If not open the Wacom Tablet Properties, click About, then choose diagnostic. Also, this apparently was my problem, check the USB connection on the tablet. Is it dirty/black inside near the gold pins? If so grad a cuetip, alcohol, and paper towel. Dip the cuetip in the alcohol and swab out the inside a bit. If theres still more that you can't reach, use the paper towel in the same way, then dry it off completely before plugging it back in and trying it out.

Other than that, it could also be improperly registered in the Device Manager as another HID device instead of as the Wacom tablet. Search the internet for the fix to this as I don't know it offhand and wouldn't want to mess up your computer.

In fact here's a full checklist of things that can be wrong:
1) Drivers
2) Tablet Software
3) USB connection on tablet
4) Tablet cord
5) Tablet itself
6) USB connections on the motherboard
7) Device Manager mis-registration of hardware
8) Another recently installed USB device
9) RF interference (like a monitor, wifi device etc)

Hey Fritz. Hope you've solved your problem by now, but I've had some Wacom issues before too, not exactly the same as yours, but try making a simple batch file with the following code.

"
taskkill /f /im tablet.exe
net stop TabletService
net start TabletService
"

What it'll do is make the drivers do a hard reboot. Works for my WACOM troubles, wish you luck.

thanks for the replies dudes. but i came to work today and tried it on my computer here. nothing. old one still works...new one doesn't. may be fried. still under warranty tho.
