Vague much? Definitions of what you mean by 'best', 'low poly' and 'workflow' would help.
Best: Fastest? Most logical? Produces cleanest results? (In any case, there's generally no best, especially between different artists)
Low poly: 500 or so as seen in the low poly thread, or just general 'real time' which these days can be 10k or more? These are quite different things.
Workflow: Pipelilne for the whole model, as in order of modeling, boning, texturing, etc-- or do you just mean how the polies get laid down? (Box modeling, edge extrusion, etc).
I don't mean to be cheeky but hey-- this is a place for discussion, discuss
workflow for low poly modeling.
just that, the workflow for modeling a low-polygon model, that is made out of thousands, not hundreds of thousands to millions of polys.
i use spline modeling and cut tools a lot, triangle modeling for cleaning up the mess 3ds max leaves with poly modeling,
editable poly mode to clean up the mesh from time to time.

o_O it's not max that leaves a mess with polymodelling, it's you, work clean and there won't be a mess.
